A group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Kabiru Turaki, called Ahmadu Fintiri’s switch to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the governor of Adamawa, an “exhibition of unrestrained cowardice.”

Fintiri officially joined the APC on Friday after weeks of rumors and discussions.

He explained that moving to the APC is a smart move to get more federal help and speed up development projects in Adamawa.

In a statement, Ini Ememobong, the PDP spokesperson for the Turaki group, said the governor left the party that helped him build his political career.

Ememobong also said Fintiri’s decision hurts the idea of political morality and weakens Nigeria’s multiparty democracy and democratic system.

consolidation.

“For a person to abandon a platform that provided political coverage for him, across many election cycles at the sight of slight discomfort, is unambiguously an exhibition of unrestrained cowardice, and not a mark of a principled politician,” the statement reads.

Ememobong said that Fintiri’s leaving won’t stop the “rebirth movement” in the party.

He added, “As we say goodbye to Governor Fintiri, we want to remind him that history and future generations will be the fair and impartial judges of his actions.
They are already watching and recording everything people do or don’t do.

The PDP spokesperson urged party members and supporters in Adamawa to remain calm and resolute despite the development, adding that the “true test of a person is during times of inconvenience and contention”.
