Armed bandits launched an attack on Janjala Village in Kagarko Local Government Area, Kaduna State, injuring one person and abducting an unknown number of residents.
According to security sources who spoke with Zagazola Makama, the assault occurred around 12:30 a.m. on March 2, when the attackers stormed the village and opened fire sporadically.
Two community members, Yusuf Abdulwahab and Idris Ahmed, later reported the incident at the Kagarko divisional headquarters, bringing along a 25-year-old victim, Shamsu Adamu, who sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach.
“The victim was immediately taken to the General Hospital, Kagarko, for medical treatment,” a source said.
The bandits reportedly abducted several residents during the attack and whisked them away to an unknown location.
In response, a joint security team, working with other agencies and local vigilante groups, was deployed to the area.
“The surrounding bushes were thoroughly searched in an effort to rescue the kidnapped victims and apprehend the attackers,” the source added.
Authorities continue efforts to track the assailants and ensure the safe release of those abducted.
