Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas on Tuesday urged the newly elected State Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna to secure at least two million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The directive followed the emergence of Isaac Atiku Sankay as the consensus chairman of the Kaduna State APC during the state congress held at Murtala Muhammed Square, Kaduna.
Born in 1983, Sankay currently serves as Special Adviser on Peace and Conflict Resolution to the Governor and was endorsed by party stakeholders after consultations across all 23 local government areas of the state.
Speaking to delegates at the congress, Governor Uba Sani described the event as a pivotal moment in strengthening and consolidating the APC in Kaduna State.
Governor Uba Sani said, “This congress reflects our internal cohesion and democratic discipline. It shows that Kaduna APC is united and ready for the future.”
He revealed that 6,885 ward executives were elected across the state’s 255 wards during the ward congresses.
He added that 621 local government executives also emerged from congresses held in all 23 local government areas.
“At the state level, 36 executive members have been confirmed and sworn in. This highlights the strength of our party structure and its reach across every community,” Sani added.
The governor emphasized that adopting consensus candidates reflects political maturity and unity, not weakness.
“Our focus remains on governance, development, and electoral success. We must start mobilisation from the polling units and ensure alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he stated.
In his address, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas called on the new executives to take immediate action and unify all party factions.
“You are tasked with delivering over two million votes for President Tinubu and an equal number for Governor Uba Sani in 2027,” the Speaker said.
He praised the outgoing leadership for steering the party to victories in the 2015 and 2023 elections, expressing confidence that the 2027 target was attainable.
In his acceptance speech, Sankay thanked God and party leaders for their trust, pledging to live up to their confidence.
“I will serve with discipline, courage, and deliverable results. We will reinforce internal democracy, expand grassroots mobilisation, and create more opportunities for youth and women participation,” Sankay said.
Outgoing State Chairman Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada (retd.) thanked party members for their support during his eight-year tenure, noting that he was leaving behind a stronger, more united APC in Kaduna State.
