Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has pledged to secure 85 percent of the state’s votes for President Bola Tinubu in next year’s general elections.
He made the commitment on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.
The visit follows Fintiri’s recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, bringing along his cabinet and a significant segment of the state’s PDP leadership.
During the meeting, Governor Fintiri reaffirmed his full allegiance to the APC and pledged steadfast support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 general elections.
He noted that his defection to the APC was a strategic move aimed at strengthening the party, fostering national unity, ensuring long-term development and stability for Adamawa State, and consolidating backing for the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“I assure you that Adamawa State will deliver at least 85% of the votes for President Tinubu and the APC in the upcoming elections,” he stated.
In response, the APC National Chairman welcomed the governor’s commitment and underscored the significance of such high-profile defections in building a stronger, more cohesive party ahead of future polls.
