The United States Embassy in Nigeria has issued a security advisory to its citizens in Abuja over a planned protest in the city.

In a statement posted on its official X account on Wednesday, the Embassy noted a high likelihood of demonstrations in Abuja amid the ongoing tensions with Iran.

The advisory cautioned that previous protests related to the conflict have occasionally escalated into violent confrontations between demonstrators and Nigerian security forces.

“The Embassy strongly advises all U.S. citizens in Abuja to remain at home on Wednesday, March 4,” the statement added.
