The Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has urged its officers to maintain the highest level of professionalism and commitment in protecting lives, property, and critical national assets in line with the Corps’ mandate.
The appeal was made by the State Commandant, Suberu Siyaka Aniviye, during the 2026 World Civil Defence Day celebration held at the Corps’ headquarters in the Three Arms Zone, Minna, Niger State.
Represented by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Mohamed Rabiu Muti, Aniviye noted that the global event is usually marked with elaborate activities under the supervision of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO).

However, he explained that this year’s observance was held on a low-key scale as a mark of respect for officers who lost their lives during the recent transition ceremony of the Corps’ Commandant-General, Abubakar Ahmed Audi.
The commandant said the occasion provided an opportunity for officers and personnel to reflect, appreciate God’s protection, and renew their commitment to serving the nation. He also assured that the sacrifices of fallen officers would always be remembered and honoured.
Activities during the event included a joint interfaith prayer session attended by senior officers and members of the command’s management team, a quarter guard inspection, and a parade display by mounted officers, symbolising discipline, readiness, and the Corps’ continued dedication to its statutory responsibilities.
