Nigerian content creator Shank Comics has been named Best Streamer 2026 at the SiGMA Africa Awards held in Cape Town.
The award was presented on March 3 during the summit’s gala night, drawing applause from guests at the high-profile gathering focused on gaming, technology and digital innovation across the continent.
The Best Streamer category recognises creators who demonstrate exceptional audience engagement and consistency in content delivery. Organisers said the honour reflects the growing influence of African digital talents, particularly from Nigeria, on the global streaming landscape.
Shank Comics, born Adesokan Emmanuel, first gained popularity through short comedy skits portraying relatable Nigerian experiences. He later transitioned into live streaming, where he built a strong online community through interactive sessions and collaborations.
His international visibility increased following joint streams and appearances with global creators such as IShowSpeed and Kai Cenat, helping expand his audience beyond Africa.
Videos from the Cape Town ceremony showed the comedian stepping onto the stage to receive the award plaque before thanking fans and supporters for their continued backing.
Shortly after the announcement, social media platforms were flooded with congratulatory messages celebrating the milestone, although a few users questioned the timing of the recognition.
The SiGMA Africa Awards form part of a broader continental summit that highlights excellence in iGaming, emerging technology and digital entrepreneurship.
