The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, on Thursday stated that President Bola Tinubu remains committed to democratic governance and the rule of law following his assent to the Electoral Law of 2026.
Yilwatda shared this in a statement on his official X account after attending an interfaith breaking of fast with the President, Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC leaders, and members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) at the State House in Abuja.
He noted that the gathering reflected unity among political and religious leaders and highlighted their shared commitment to Nigeria’s development.
“I had the privilege of breaking the fast with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima during an interfaith event with leaders of the APC and IPAC at the State House, Abuja,” Yilwatda said.
“The gathering was not only spiritually uplifting but also meaningful for our party, our nation, and the shared aspirations of Nigerians. It brought together leaders from diverse religious and political backgrounds, underscoring that despite our differences, we are united by a common destiny,” part of Yilwatda’s statement read.
The APC chairman emphasized that Nigeria’s diversity should be viewed as a source of strength, not division.
“I particularly noted that our differences in religion, culture, and political affiliation only reinforce the reality that we share a common faith in Nigeria and a collective hope for its future,” he added.
“Moments like this remind us that unity, tolerance, and dialogue are essential pillars for national progress,” he continued.
Yilwatda added that he took the opportunity to commend President Tinubu for his service to the nation and expressed confidence in the administration’s policy direction.
“On behalf of the National Working Committee, I commended President Tinubu for his sacrifices in service to the nation and expressed strong confidence in the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Encouragingly, the President’s economic policies are beginning to bear fruit, with key indicators showing signs of stabilization and renewed confidence in Nigeria’s economic trajectory,” the statement added.

Yilwatda also highlighted the President’s recent assent to the Electoral Law of 2026, describing it as a demonstration of respect for democratic institutions.
“President Tinubu has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to democratic governance and the rule of law through his assent to the Electoral Law of 2026.
“Signing the legislation underscores his respect for democratic institutions and the constitutional role of the National Assembly, which passed the bill overwhelmingly,” the statement concluded.
He added that the interfaith gathering highlighted the significance of unity and collective leadership in strengthening Nigeria’s democratic progress.
“The gathering was a powerful demonstration of unity, tolerance, and shared national purpose as Nigeria advances its democratic journey.
“It also served as a reminder that through collective leadership, trust in our institutions, and dedication to the national interest, we can continue building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria,” he said.
