Arsenal cruised into the Champions League quarter-finals with a confident 2-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in Tuesday’s last-16 second leg, sealing a 3-1 aggregate win at the Emirates Stadium.
Mikel Arteta’s side, often criticised for grinding out results, delivered an impressive attacking display highlighted by two quality goals. Eberechi Eze opened the scoring late in the first half with a superb long-range strike, while Declan Rice wrapped up the win after the break with a composed finish.
After needing a late Kai Havertz penalty to secure a 1-1 draw in the first leg, Arsenal were far more dominant in the return fixture, booking a place in the quarter-finals for the third consecutive season.

They will now face Sporting Lisbon, who staged a remarkable comeback to overturn a three-goal deficit and eliminate Bodo/Glimt 5-3 on aggregate.
The victory provides a timely boost ahead of Arsenal’s League Cup final clash against Manchester City at Wembley, as they continue their pursuit of multiple trophies this season. The Gunners, currently leading the Premier League by nine points, are also in contention in the FA Cup.
Despite their strong domestic and European form, Arsenal are still chasing their first Champions League title, having last reached the final in 2006.
They dominated Leverkusen from the outset, creating numerous chances before finally breaking the deadlock through Eze’s stunning effort. Rice then put the result beyond doubt in the second half, capping a commanding performance from the hosts.
