AKWA IBOM POLICE ARREST FOUR OVER BURGLARY, RECOVER STOLEN ITEMS IN UYO

The Nigeria Police Force in Akwa Ibom State has arrested four suspects, including two alleged shop burglars and two receivers of stolen items, in coordinated operations carried out in Uyo.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Timfon John, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday, noting that the arrests were made on March 17, 2026, during a targeted operation around Aka Road and its environs.
According to the statement, the burglary suspects, identified as Idiongho Johnny, 29, and Ofonime Jimmy, 30, both residents of Uyo, were apprehended in the early hours of the operation. Items recovered from them include a locally made pistol, a live cartridge, suspected master keys, an iron cutter, and a mobile phone.
The police said the suspects confessed to their involvement in shop burglary activities within the area during interrogation.

In a follow-up operation, two additional suspects—identified as Innocent Nnaukwu, 39, and Ali Ibrahim, 24—were arrested for allegedly receiving stolen items. Recovered exhibits from them include two generator sets, a welding coil, and a car battery believed to have been stolen.
The Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, commended the operatives for their professionalism and assured residents that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate and recover additional stolen property.
