Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has announced that all state workers will receive a ₦10,000 monthly salary top-up for a period of three months.
He made the announcement on Monday during an event held in Ibadan, the state capital.
According to the governor, the initiative is aimed at easing the impact of the recent fuel price increase. He added that the payment will begin in April and could be extended if the situation persists.
Makinde said he was pleased to announce that all workers in Oyo State, including those at the local government level, would receive an additional ₦10,000 to their monthly salaries starting from April for an initial period of three months as support for petrol and transportation costs.
He explained that the payment would be a flat rate for all workers and could be extended depending on circumstances.
According to him, arrangements would also be made to ensure that others outside the state workforce may benefit, adding that the initiative would be properly structured to be inclusive.
Makinde noted that as his administration progresses toward its end, he remains focused on ensuring continuity of such policies.
