Sheikh Ahmed Tijani Umar of the African democratic congress (ADC) has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming he was detained by the department of state services (DSS), clarifying that he was only invited for questioning and subsequently released.
speaking on the incident, the cleric said he fully cooperated with security officials and is currently safe and free.
“I am addressing this to correct the false report being circulated. I was not detained by the DSS. I was invited for questioning, I cooperated fully, and I was released. I am free, safe, and in good condition,” he said.
Umar urged his supporters and residents of Kaduna state to stay calm and avoid any actions that could threaten peace in the state.
“I appeal to all our supporters and the people of Kaduna state to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding. no one should take the law into their own hands or cause unrest in the name of loyalty,” he said.
the ADC cleric also called for patience regarding the situation involving former Kaduna state governor, Nasir el-Rufai , urging the public to allow due process to run its course.
he further advised those dissatisfied with the current political system to seek change through democratic means.
“for anyone unhappy with the current system, the solution is simple: register, vote, and elect better leaders when the time comes.
“thank you all, and may Allah protect our dear state, Kaduna state,” he added.
