A viral video showing Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele, appearing to ignore her colleague, Toyin Abraham, at a recent movie premiere has stirred reactions across social media.
The incident occurred on Sunday at the premiere of The Return of Arinzo, hosted by Iyabo Ojo at the Balmoral Event Centre.
In the circulating clip, Abraham is seen approaching a table to greet colleagues, including Mercy Aigbe and others. While her greeting was acknowledged by Ojo and Aigbe, Akindele appeared not to respond and kept her gaze elsewhere, a moment that has since fueled speculation among fans.
The development comes weeks after Akindele publicly called for greater unity within the Nigerian film industry. Speaking at the premiere of Love and New Notes, a project by Timini Egbuson and director Kayode Kasum, she urged practitioners to prioritise collaboration over rivalry.
“We all need to come out to support Nollywood. We are all one. There’s no competition, it’s called collaboration,” she said during her address.
Akindele also praised several actors at the event, including Eniola Badmus and Odunlade Adekola, commending their growth and performances.
Despite her call for unity, the recent viral moment has triggered conversations online about relationships within Nollywood, with fans speculating on the dynamics between the two actresses.
