The police in Ekiti State have arrested a suspect in connection with the recent robbery attack on student hostels of Ekiti State University.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Sunday Abutu, disclosed on Tuesday that items recovered from the suspect include a face mask and a motorcycle believed to have been used in carrying out the attack.

The incident, which occurred in off-campus hostels around the Iworoko area, caused panic among students, many of whom reportedly fled for safety. Eyewitnesses said the attackers moved from one hostel to another, robbing occupants of valuables such as mobile phones, laptops, and cash.

A student, identified simply as Olusola, described the midnight raid as traumatic, noting that it disrupted preparations for ongoing examinations.

Abutu added that the suspect has been transferred to the State Police Headquarters for further investigation, as efforts continue to apprehend other members of the gang and ensure their prosecution.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Micheal Falade, has urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.

The command assured that measures have been put in place to prevent a recurrence of such incidents and enhance security across the state.
