The Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) booked their first World Cup appearance in 52 years after defeating Jamaica 1-0 in an intercontinental playoff on Tuesday.
The match, held at the Akron Stadium near Guadalajara, went into extra time, with Burnley defender Axel Tuanzebe scoring the decisive goal to secure victory for the African side.
With this win, DR Congo will join Portugal, Colombia, and Uzbekistan in Group K at this summer’s World Cup.
