The White House has moved to dispel rumors that President Donald Trump is receiving treatment at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, as speculation about his health intensified online on Saturday.

The Republican president’s health has remained a major point of public attention during his second term, with many Americans closely observing his public appearances, physical condition, and reported medical issues. The speculation followed a White House announcement at 11:08 a.m. on Saturday stating that the president would not be making any public appearances for the rest of the day—an unusual development given his routine weekend visits to Mar-a-Lago for golf.

Trump’s last known visit to the medical centre was in October, when he reportedly underwent an MRI scan. “I did. I got an MRI. It was perfect,” the president told reporters aboard Air Force One at the time.

Steven Cheung, Assistant to the President and White House Director of Communications, issued a rare statement addressing the president’s health. “There has never been a President who has worked harder for the American people than President Trump.

“On this Easter weekend, he has been working nonstop in the White House and Oval Office. God Bless him,” he wrote.

Trump, who at 79 is among the oldest presidents in U.S. history, did not explain the reason for the scan, which can be used to detect a range of medical conditions.

“The doctor said [it] was some of the best reports, for the age, they’ve ever seen,” Trump added, while advising reporters to “ask the doctors” when questioned further about the MRI.

According to presidential physician Dr. Sean Barbabella, the appointment was a “scheduled follow-up evaluation as part of his ongoing health maintenance plan and included advanced imaging, laboratory testing, and preventative health assessments.”

Dr. Barbabella added that the president “continues to demonstrate excellent overall health.”

The U.S. National Institutes of Health noted that MRI scans are particularly useful for examining soft tissues, as they use powerful magnetic fields to generate images of internal organs.

The White House had earlier disclosed in 2025 that Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the condition was identified after doctors observed swelling in his legs.

Chronic venous insufficiency occurs when leg veins fail to properly return blood to the heart, causing it to pool in the lower limbs. According to Barbabella, the condition is “benign and common” among older individuals.

The president has also been seen wearing cosmetic patches on the back of his hand. The White House explained that the bruising is a result of frequent handshaking and is unrelated to the vein condition.
