The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service has announced a further extension of the deadline for filing individual annual income tax returns to April 21, 2026.
The extension follows an earlier shift of the deadline to April 14, 2026, as the agency recorded a surge in traffic on its eTax platform due to increased compliance by taxpayers.
In a statement issued by its Head of Corporate Communications, Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude, the agency expressed appreciation to taxpayers for their continued commitment to fulfilling their civic obligations.
According to the statement, the additional extension is aimed at ensuring that all taxpayers have sufficient time to successfully complete their filings amid the high volume of activity on the platform.
“The extension is granted in consideration of the overwhelming response and to enhance taxpayer convenience, while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of submissions,” the statement noted.
The agency reminded residents that filing annual income tax returns remains a statutory obligation and urged taxpayers to take advantage of the final extension.
The Executive Chairman of LIRS, Ayodele Subair, reiterated that all filings must be completed electronically via the agency’s eTax platform, which remains the only approved channel for submission.
Taxpayers seeking further assistance were advised to visit any LIRS office or contact the agency through its official communication channels.
