The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that at least 1,714 intending pilgrims from the state are set to take part in the 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
This was revealed by the Board’s Secretary, Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, during a radio programme in Ilorin, as stated in a release issued on Thursday by the Assistant Press Secretary, Folarin Sidiq.
Abdulkadir explained that preparations are already at an advanced stage, assuring that all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure a seamless pilgrimage.
He noted that visas have been processed, accommodation in Saudi Arabia secured, and Hajj materials, including travel bags, are ready. He also added that the Basic Travel Allowance for intending pilgrims will be disbursed next week.
Furthermore, he disclosed that the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has scheduled May 3 for the inaugural flight nationwide. Pilgrims from Kwara State are expected to depart in three batches on May 6, May 7, and May 9 via Max Air.
He advised all intending pilgrims to safeguard their permit access cards, emphasizing their importance as essential travel documents.

Abdulkadir also announced that enlightenment programmes have been arranged to educate pilgrims on Hajj rites and guidelines. The first session will take place on April 19, led by the Imam Imale of Ilorin, Sheikh Abdullahi Abdulhamid, while the second session, scheduled for April 26, will be presided over by the Grand Khadi of the Kwara State Shariah Court of Appeal, Justice Abdullateef Kamaldeen.
He urged all pilgrims to attend both sessions to better understand the requirements and procedures of the pilgrimage.
On the issue of cost, he stated that the approved Hajj fare for Kwara pilgrims is N7.75 million. Those who had earlier paid N8.5 million have been advised to visit the board with proof of payment to receive a refund of the excess amount.
He clarified that refunds will only be issued to the original payer whose name appears on the receipt, and not to third parties.
