Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has said his team are fully aware of the challenge they will face against Atlético Madrid in the UEFA Champions League semi-final later this month.

Speaking after Arsenal’s 0-0 draw with Sporting CP in the second leg of their quarter-final at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, Rice reflected on the result.

The Gunners advanced to the semi-finals after securing a 1-0 aggregate victory over the Portuguese side.

Speaking to TNT Sports about Arsenal’s upcoming tie with Atlético Madrid, Rice said he was pleased with the team’s progress and the challenge ahead.

He described reaching consecutive Champions League semi-finals as a major achievement for the squad, adding that their ambition is now to take the next step and reach the final.

Reflecting on their previous meeting with Atlético earlier in the season, he noted that it was a strong contest and said Arsenal know what to expect going into the semi-final, finishing with confidence and anticipation for the decisive weeks ahead.

Arsenal had already beaten Atlético Madrid earlier this season in the Champions League when both sides met.
