Ademola Adeleke has commended his nephew, Afrobeats star Davido, for elevating the Adeleke family name and putting Osun State on the global stage.
The governor’s praise followed a traditional panegyric delivered during Davido’s performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2026 in California, United States.
In a statement posted on his X account alongside a video of the stage introduction, Adeleke described the moment as a source of pride for both the family and Osun State.

The footage shows a dramatic buildup on the Gobi Stage, featuring striking red-and-yellow visuals, pyrotechnics, and coordinated performers. A key highlight was the recitation of Davido’s oríkì — the traditional Yoruba praise poetry of Ede, his hometown in Osun.
“Another proud moment. My nephew @davido putting the family, our heritage and state on the global map,” the governor wrote.
Davido, the only Nigerian act on the official 2026 Coachella lineup, delivered an energetic performance featuring hit songs like Dami Duro, Skelewu, Aye, If, and With You.
He also excited the crowd by bringing out fellow Nigerian artist Adekunle Gold to perform their collaboration High, turning the venue into a lively celebration of Afrobeats.
