Manchester City reduced Arsenal’s lead at the top of the Premier League to three points after a hard-fought victory.

Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland scored for the hosts, with Kai Havertz briefly levelling for Arsenal in between, as City secured a crucial win in the title race.

Arsenal defender Gabriel was involved in a heated duel with Haaland in the closing stages and was lucky to avoid a red card after a confrontation between the pair. However, he could not prevent City from holding on for the result.

Havertz, who earlier capitalised on a mistake from Gianluigi Donnarumma to score, later missed two clear chances for the visitors, including a late free header in stoppage time.

City now head to Burnley on Wednesday for their game in hand, knowing a win would take them to the top of the table.

The match was also marked by a physical battle between Haaland and Gabriel, with both players heavily involved in multiple clashes throughout the game. The City striker ultimately had the final say, scoring the decisive goal after a bruising contest.
