Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested four suspected armed robbers accused of terrorising residents of Ughelli and surrounding communities.
The arrests followed multiple complaints from residents about a criminal gang allegedly responsible for violent attacks, during which victims were injured with cutlasses and robbed of their motorcycles.
This was confirmed in a statement on Monday in Warri by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.
According to him, three suspects were first apprehended during an intelligence-led operation carried out by the CP Special Assignment Team between 6:30 a.m. and 9:10 a.m. on April 20, 2026, in collaboration with Ughelli Kingdom Vigilante members across different locations in Ughelli.
The suspects were identified as Surajo Atar (25) from Sokoto State, Abba Musa (24), and Babangida Yusuf (25), both from Kano State.
Items recovered from them included a cutlass and a black face mask allegedly used in their operations.

Edafe added that further interrogation led operatives to the Trailer Park area along Sapele Road in Warri, where a fourth suspect, Abdurasheed Shafiu (31), was arrested.
The fourth suspect was reportedly identified as a receiver of stolen motorcycles and allegedly confessed to purchasing the items from the gang.
The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, assured that investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the syndicate and recover more stolen property.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining security and urged residents to continue providing credible information to support police operations.
