EDO-BASED ASPIRANT OSIFO PICKS APC N100M PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATION FORM FOR 2027

A former presidential aspirant from Edo State, Stanley Osifo, has purchased the N100 million All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential nomination and expression of interest forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development was confirmed in a video shared on Tuesday by Imran Muhammad, media aide to the APC National Chairman, showing the payment and collection of the forms.
Osifo’s move follows his earlier declaration to contest the party’s presidential ticket, setting the stage for a potential contest with President Bola Tinubu despite a wave of endorsements for the incumbent within the party.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, Osifo dismissed claims that his ambition was being sponsored by Tinubu.
“It is not strange to hear people say Tinubu is the one sponsoring me. Even when I wanted to run against Buhari in 2019, I was told the current president was bankrolling me,” he said.
“I can categorically tell you, as I stand before you today, that I have never benefited one kobo from him. Thank God Asiwaju is still alive till today. If anybody has proof, let them show the world. So, I am not worried about such insinuation.”
He added that his decision to contest was driven by personal conviction, insisting he had not been found wanting or sanctioned for any anti-party activities.
Osifo also argued that endorsements by party leaders do not override constitutional provisions governing candidate selection, maintaining that he remains undeterred by growing support for Tinubu.
The APC has scheduled its presidential primary for May 15 and 16, with nomination forms pegged at N100 million—comprising N30 million for expression of interest and N70 million for nomination.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), party primaries, including the resolution of disputes, will hold between April 23 and May 30, 2026.
INEC also announced that presidential and National Assembly elections will take place on January 16, 2027, while governorship and State Assembly polls are slated for February 6, 2027. Campaigns are expected to commence on August 19, 2026, for presidential and National Assembly elections, and September 9, 2026, for governorship and State Assembly elections.
