OGUN APC YOUTH LEADER OGUNDELE DECLARES ASSEMBLY BID, PLEDGES 500,000 VOTES FOR TINUBU, ADEOLA

The Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, Imeko-Afon chapter in Ogun West, Jamiu Ogundele, has declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ogundele also pledged to mobilise 500,000 votes in support of President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus governorship candidate in the state, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola.
In a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday, Ogundele announced his ambition during a stakeholders’ meeting in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area, expressing confidence in the ability of youths to deliver significant electoral support for the APC.
He cited data from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), noting that Ogun State had over 2.6 million registered voters as of 2023, with more than 860,000 in Ogun West alone, adding that the figures were expected to rise with ongoing voter registration.
“With the current momentum and expected rise in voter registration, delivering 500,000 votes for our candidates is achievable,” he said.
Declaring his ambition, Ogundele said his decision was driven by a desire to provide purposeful representation and amplify the voices of his constituents.
“My decision to vie for the State Assembly is driven by a deep desire to serve my people and ensure their voices are heard at the legislative level. It is time for representation that truly reflects the needs and aspirations of our communities,” he stated.
He added that his experience as a youth mobiliser and community advocate had equipped him with the insight required to deliver effective leadership.
“We must ensure governance is closer to the people. I will champion policies that promote education, economic opportunities and sustainable development across Imeko-Afon,” he added.
The declaration was welcomed by party faithful and stakeholders at the meeting.
In his remarks, the South-West Vice President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Damilola Oluwajubelo, described youths as the backbone of the democratic process, assuring of massive mobilisation in support of APC candidates.
Also speaking, former member of the House of Representatives, Dele Ogunsiji, alongside traditional leaders and government representatives, described Ogundele as a committed grassroots mobiliser with a proven track record.
They commended his contributions to community development, particularly in youth empowerment, scholarship schemes, and support for vulnerable groups through the JAMSALOD Foundation, known for its annual free medical outreach programmes.
Stakeholders expressed confidence that his candidacy would strengthen grassroots mobilisation and promote inclusive representation in Imeko-Afon and beyond.
