2027: NDC LAUNCHES NATIONWIDE MOBILISATION OF POLLING AGENTS

The Nigeria Democratic Congress has directed its state and Local Government Area chairmen to commence the compilation and harmonisation of party agents ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party gave the officials two weeks to submit the final lists for review and approval by the party leadership.

In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the NDC instructed state and LGA chairmen to immediately meet with candidates and other relevant stakeholders to compile and harmonise the names of party agents.

Director said the directive was in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2026.

He explained that two separate categories of agents would be compiled—one for the National Assembly elections and another for the governorship and State House of Assembly elections.

The party said the submitted lists would be scrutinised and ratified by its leadership, including the presidential candidate and running mate, before training begins.

It added that the final lists must be counter-signed by state chairmen and the respective candidates to authenticate the nominations.

The NDC further stated that where disagreements arise between party leaders and candidates over the selection of agents, the candidate’s choice would take precedence.

Director assured members, supporters and other stakeholders that the party’s structures were in place for the 2027 elections, describing the planned campaign as issue-based.

He said the party was fully prepared to commence its campaign with the necessary structures in place.
