2027: OYO APC AGGRIEVED ASPIRANTS RECONCILE, PLEDGE SUPPORT FOR TINUBU, ALLI

Aggrieved All Progressives Congress aspirants who contested for seats in the Oyo State House of Assembly have reconciled with the party and pledged their support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid and the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Chairman of the Oyo APC House of Assembly Reconciliation Committee, Alhaji Mufutau Adisa, disclosed this on Sunday at a stakeholders’ meeting and press conference held at the International Conference Centre in Ibadan.
Adisa said the affected aspirants had agreed to accept the outcome of the party’s primary elections and work together in the interest of the APC.
According to him, the committee held individual meetings with the aspirants, giving them an opportunity to present their grievances before reaching a resolution to move past the disputes.
He explained that the protests followed concerns raised by some aspirants over the emergence of candidates during the party’s primaries for various elective positions.
The development prompted the APC to establish reconciliation committees, including the House of Assembly committee, to address the concerns of aggrieved members.
Adisa acknowledged the right of the aspirants to express their dissatisfaction but urged them to place the collective interest of the party above personal ambitions.
He said the APC leadership respected the rights of its members and aspirants, which informed the decision to establish reconciliation committees to address grievances and restore unity.
The chairman commended the aggrieved aspirants for choosing to set aside their individual ambitions, noting that they had agreed to support Tinubu’s re-election and Alli’s governorship bid in 2027.
Reading the committee’s communiqué, its Co-Chairman, Abisoye Fagade, said most of the aspirants who participated in the primary elections, including those who purchased nomination forms and those who did not, had displayed maturity, sportsmanship and commitment to the unity of the party.
Fagade said the reconciled aspirants had expressed their willingness to work with one another and the party leadership to secure victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections.
He added that the aspirants pledged their support for Tinubu’s re-election, as well as APC candidates contesting for seats in the Senate, House of Representatives and Oyo State House of Assembly.
The committee also commended the aspirants for prioritising the overall interest of the party over their personal ambitions and for their willingness to contribute to strengthening the APC across Oyo State.
Speaking at the event, Co-Chairman of the State Gubernatorial Reconciliation Committee, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, urged party members to maintain unity, drawing from his experience of both winning and losing elections.
Lanlehin said the aspirants had made the right decision by choosing to work for the collective interest of the APC.
Another co-chairman of the committee, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, also praised the aspirants for agreeing to cooperate with the party leadership.
The reconciliation comes amid efforts by the Oyo APC to resolve internal disputes ahead of the 2027 elections.
Earlier, former Minister of Power and APC governorship aspirant, Bayo Adelabu, had announced that his ambition to become governor of Oyo State was not a do-or-die affair.
Adelabu said his decision to step back from further pursuing the matter was motivated by the need to promote peace, party stability and the long-term interests of the APC in the state.
