
TINUBU MEETS EMEFIELE, KYARI AT ASO ROCK AMID FUEL SUBSIDY, MONETARY POLICY ISSUES
President Bola Tinubu is fulfilling his vow to hit the ground running once he resumes office as he on Tuesday met with the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mr Godwin Emefiele and the Group Chief Executive Officer, of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, Mr. Mele Kyari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
This marks the first official move by the President after his inauguration as the 16th President of the country at Eagle Square, Abuja.
Tinubu who was said to have arrived at the forecourt of the State House at about 2:30 pm was received by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, the Permanent Secretary, State House, Tijjani Umar, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila and the outgoing Director of Protocol, DOP.
Others were the governor of CBN, Mr Godwin Emefiele, the GCEO of NNPCL, Mr Kyari, a member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. James Faleke, among others.
The President went straight to his office with Emefiele, Kyari, Gbajabiamila, Faleke and others.
Although the agenda of the meeting unknown as of now, it might be related with the fuel related issues such as subsidies removal and fuel scarcity.
Monetary policy such as the foreign exchange, recent Naira redesign might also be part of the issues to be discussed.
The President while in his inaugural speech made his intention of subsidy removal clear, saying “the subsidy is gone.”
He also touched on unifying the exchange rate while discussing the monetary policy.
