
JUST IN: PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS HON. ZACCHEUS ADEDEJI AS ACTING CHAIRMAN OF FIRS
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has chosen Mr. Zaccheus A. Adedeji to serve as the Federal Inland Revenue Service’s (FIRS) acting chairman.
According to a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, the President also instructed the former chairman of the FIRS, Mr. Muhammad Nami, to immediately begin taking the three months of pre-retirement vacation allowed by Public Service Rule (PSR) 120243.
The presidencies indicated that his eventual resignation from duty on December 8, 2023, would follow the pre-retirement vacation.
“Hon. Zacch Adedeji is hereby appointed in acting capacity for a 90-day period before his subsequent confirmation as the substantive Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service for a term of four (4) years in the first instance.
“Hon. Zacch Adedeji is a first-class graduate in accounting from the Obafemi Awolowo University. He most recently served the nation as the Special Adviser to the President on Revenue, following meritorious service terms as the Oyo State Commissioner of Finance and as the Executive Secretary/CEO of the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC).
“By these directives of the President, the new appointment takes immediate effect,” the statement added.
Zacchaeus Adedeji is a capable accountant who specialises in public finance development and business tax. He has worked in corporate accounting and public service administration for more than 15 years, and he has advised international businesses, state governments, and the federal government of Nigeria.
