FIVE CONFIRMED DEAD AS BANDITS ATTACK COMMUNITY IN KADUNA
In Kaduna State’s Zaria Local Government Area, bandits assaulted the Anguwar Dankali hamlet, leaving at least five people dead and several others hurt.
According to ASP Manir Hassan, the Kaduna State Police Command’s acting public relations officer, who verified the attack, said the event happened about 11 p.m. on Friday.
According to Hassan, the bandits barraged the neighborhood in large numbers and opened fire randomly to frighten the locals.
Seven ladies were kidnapped and brought to an unidentified location, he said, while five individuals who were waiting outside their home were shot dead by the robbers.
Hassan added that on Saturday morning, all seven kidnapped women were freed when the police responded to a distress call and tracked the criminals.
The criminals were wounded by gunfire during the operation, the police official added, but only one was captured.
The Kaduna State Police Command reports that throughout separate operations in various sections of the state, it has detained 10 alleged kidnappers.
The PPRO stated that the suspects were detained between September and October 3. They were paraded before the command’s headquarters.
He revealed that the suspects had been found with a number of deadly weapons, including three AK-47 rifles, three fake revolvers, 448 rounds of live 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, and other items.
