JUST IN: COURT RESERVES JUDGEMENT IN APPEAL BY PETER OBI/ LP
In the appeal filed by Peter Obi and the Labour Party (LP) against the Presidential Election Petition Court’s (PEPC) September 6 ruling upholding President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the most recent presidential election, the Supreme Court has deferred making a decision.
Parties will be informed when the judgement is finalised, according to Justice John Okoro, who presided over a seven-member panel that heard the appeal.
Livy Uzoukwu (SAN), the appellants’ attorney, called for the court to accept the appeal and provide the requested remedy as he accepted his written submissions.
The court was asked to dismiss the appeal due to lack of merit by Abubakar Mahmoud (SAN) representing INEC, Wole Olanipekun (SAN) representing Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Akin Olujinmi (SAN) representing the APC.
