COAS ORDERS EMROLMENT OF PERSONNEL, FAMILIES IN NHIS

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, has directed all personnel and families of soldiers in Borno cantonment to enrol in the National Health Insurance Scheme under the Cantonment Medical Reception Station.
According to him, this would enable personnel and families to enjoy free medical care.
In a statement on Friday, the Director of Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu said the COAS gave the directive while responding to an inquiry from the commanders of the Abogo Largema military cantonment in Borno.
Lieutenant Colonels Aliyu Garba and Muphtau Arilesere, the commanders, had emphasized in their briefs the need for enhanced capitation for the cantonment MRS, which serves both battalions.
They also informed the COAS about the security situation in their area of responsibility, the status of infrastructure, and the obstacles that the units face.
The statement partly read, “Responding to issues raised by the commanders, Gen. Lagbaja directed that all personnel and their families in the cantonment be enrolled in the National Health Insurance Scheme under the Cantonment Medical Reception Station to enable them to access free medical care, adding that capitation depends on the number of enrollees.
The COAS also vowed to remedy the cantonment’s infrastructure shortcomings.
According to Onyema, the COAS acknowledged the soldiers for their contribution to the nation in safeguarding peace and stability in their area of duty. He also stated that socioeconomic activity in the surrounding area have been restored.
