CORONER INQUEST: LABOUR STRIKE STALLS MOHBAD CASE
By Oduola F.O.
The resumption of the Coroner inquest into the death of late Afrobeats singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly know as Mohbad at the Candide-Johnson Courthouse in Ikorodu has been stalled on Tuesday by the closure of the Court due to the ongoing Labour strike.
Court workers also joined in the nationwide action of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) that commenced on November 14.
There was no sign of activity at the under-lock Magistrate court on Wednesday morning, Nov. 15 2023.
Interested persons were seen standing outside of the venue but no sign of any of Mohbad’s family members.
Mohbad, who died on Sept. 12 in a mysterious circumstance had left fans, colleagues and the general entertainment industry searching for answers.
Five suspects have already been identified following Police investigation, including musician AbdulAzeez Adeshina (Naira Marley) and celebrity Samson Balogun (Sam Larry). However, the key suspect, according to the police, was Feyisayo Ogedengbe, an auxiliary nurse who administered an injection believed to have caused Mohbad’s fatal reactions, which led to his death.
Several witnesses including Mohbad’s father and mother have also appeared in from Magistrate Shotubi with their accounts of the incidents.
On Tuesday, Nov 7, Mohbad’s wife, Cynthia Omowunmi Aloba was present at the Ikorodu court to give her account of events that led to the eventual death of the singer.
She also claimed that her life had been under threat since the death of her husband.
