GOV. SANWO-OLU KICKS OFF TRADER MONEY INITIATIVE FOR MARKET MEN, WOMEN
The trader money project was launched by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to help market men and women in the state support their businesses.
During the opening of the food agro-hub in the Mushin Idi-Oro neighbourhood of Lagos, Governor Sanwo-Olu announced that 15,000 traders would get 50,000 naira each to help sustain their enterprises.
He stated that the trader money programme is a component of his pledge to the state’s traders, which will start before the end of 2023.
He claims that 200 traders, regardless of location, will be chosen from each local government area in the state to guarantee that all traders receive the 750 million naira portion.
Sanwo-Olu added that, to the benefit of the populace, the mid-level agro-hub built in the Mushin Idi-Oro Local Government Area will be duplicated throughout the state’s five divisions.
The contemporary marketplace spans 6,400 square metres and features centralised wet and dry storage rooms for bulk purchases, as well as 3,017 square metres of parking space to accommodate trailers and automobiles.
The introduction of this innovative method of food delivery in Lagos, according to state Commissioner for Agriculture Abisola Olusanya, will track and address issues related to post-harvest losses, inflation, carbon footprint, and traffic congestion.
She added that this shows the state government’s commitment to implementing the food systems agenda in accordance with Sanwo-Olu’s administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S. Plus agenda.
