INSECURITY: TWO KILLED, SEVEN ABDUCTED IN EBONYI COMMUNITY
An attack at Ikachi village in the Akparata area of Effium in the Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has claimed the lives of two people. In the incident, seven more people were kidnapped.
The attack took place the day before, according to Joshua Ukandu, the spokesman for the Ebonyi State Police Command, on Monday.
He added that the attackers had wrecked properties valued at millions of naira.
“We are aware of the attack; two people were slain and seven more were taken hostage. According to Ukandu, the command is aware of the issue. “To make sure that peace returns to the area, we are collaborating with other security agencies.”
The spokesman assured that officers and men of command are dedicated to protecting lives and property, adding that police authorities in the state have already opened an investigation into the situation.
Since January 2021, the Ezza Effium and Effium communities have been at odds.
Following the crisis, the Ebonyi State Government took action to bring peace back to the region that had been devastated by violence.
