COURT ADJOURNS HEARING OF EMIRATE TUSSLE TILL JULY 4
The Emirate battle between Aminu Bayero and Lamido Sanusi has been postponed until July 4th by a Kano court in order to consider all applications and initiating motions.
The Kano State High Court has postponed the ongoing Kano Emirate tussle court case until May 27th. In this case, the attorney general, speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, and the Kano State House of Assembly are requesting that the court grant an order of interim injunction, preventing Bayero, the 15th Emir, and the other four dethroned emirs from parading themselves as emirs.
The applicants’ counsel told the court during the hearing of all pending applications that he had received five processes from the first respondent on July 1st, at approximately 7:00 p.m., that they had filed all of their responses, and that they were requesting a 30-minute standdown so that they could serve the respondent.
In order to give him time to react to the petitions, Bayero’s attorney requested an adjournment and contested the 30-minute standdown.
The case was subsequently postponed until July 4th by the presiding judge, Justice Amina Adamu, so that all outstanding applications and initiating motions may be heard.
