BORNO GOVT LIFT CURFEW, URGES RESIDENTS TO BE LAW ABIDING
Borno State Government has lifted the 24-hour curfew imposed on resident of Maiduguri metropolis and it’s environment.
The 24-hour curfew was imposed following the Thursday nationwide protests that went violent, leading to the killing of some persons, destruction of property, especially public infrastructures.
In a live broadcast, Governor Babagana Zulum said: “In view of the relative calm, government in consultation with security agencies has lifted the 24-hour curfew today (Saturday 3rd August, 2024).
” This is to allow residents to come out by 6am to start their normal business activities in an orderly manner.
“It is unfortunate that some hoodlums hijacked the protest thereby causing havoc to lives and property which is unacceptable.
” As the curfew is now lifted, Government will not hesitate to deal ruthlessly with anyone who break down law and order in the name of protest”. Zulum said.
