Four Lagos Police Command officers had extorted N1 million from three National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.

The money had been found and given back to its rightful owners. A widely shared video revealed the rogue police officers, who were allegedly seeking bribes from the corporers for not producing a physical copy of their driver’s license.

One of the corps members was allegedly coerced into transferring $842 worth of Bitcoin.

Following the viral success of the video, the Lagos State Police Command acted quickly to apprehend the rogue officers affiliated with the Surulere division.

The Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, also encouraged the youth corps members to present their case against them in a social media post.

An X user, Oluyemi Fasipe, who shared the video of the ordeal of the youth corpers confirmed the recovery of the extorted money.

He also attested to the fact that the police had given the money back to the owners.

He applauded the Lagos State NYSC and Benjamin Hundeyin, the public relations officer for the Lagos Police, for addressing the issue.

“The rogue men of the Area C command of the @LagosPoliceNG who extorted over 1 million naira from the corp members have refunded the money.

“I am patiently waiting for the outcome of their trial. I like to appreciate @BenHundeyin and the @officialnyscng Lagos State for their efforts too.

“I also like to use the opportunity to say hello to my friend in Delta State, @Brightgoldenboy,” Fadipe said on his X handle on Friday.
