SANWO-OLU COMMISERATES WITH JIGAWA GOVERNOR, VICTIMS FAMILIES OVER FUEL EXPLOSION TRAGEDY

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic fire incident in Majiya town, located in the Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State, caused by the explosion of a petrol-laden tanker. The unfortunate event has drawn significant attention and sympathy from leaders across the country.

 

In addition to the families of the victims, Governor Sanwo-Olu extended his condolences to his colleague, Governor Umar Namadi, as well as the friends and associates of those affected, and the citizens of Jigawa State. His message underscores the shared grief that transcends state boundaries, reflecting the collective sorrow felt throughout Nigeria.

 

Sanwo-Olu emphasized that such incidents leave lasting scars on the minds of millions of Nigerians. He noted that no nation or people can endure this type of tragedy without experiencing significant effects on their social and psychological well-being. In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu offered prayers for the victims and their families, as well as for Governor Umar Namadi and the residents of Jigawa State during this difficult time. His heartfelt sentiments serve as a reminder of the importance of solidarity and support in the face of adversity.

 

He said, “It is with heavy heart that I have read and followed the development of the disaster that happened yesterday in Majiya town, in the Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State, following the explosion of a petrol-laden tanker that claimed over 153 persons.ì

 

“Certainly, this unfortunate incident is beyond what we can reasonably imagine, going by what I have seen in the media. The devastating effects can only be imagined.

 

“Our thoughts and prayers are with my brother, Governor Umar Namadi, the Government and the people of Jigawa State over this very sad incident.

 

“I pray for the repose of the deceased and ask that the Almighty Allah grant the families of the victims the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
