It’s a moment of celebration for Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola as she secures a spot among the top highest-grossing producers.
The Yoruba actress, who made her debut in the film industry with the release of her movie Queen Lateefah, has been named the second-highest-grossing producer. She surpassed industry heavyweights like Odunlade Adekola, Toyin Abraham, Eniola Ajao, and others to reach this milestone.
Leading the pack was Funke Akindele, who earned over N1.1 billion at the box office. Wumi Toriola and Judith Audu tied with N365 million each.
Expressing her excitement, Wumi shared her gratitude and reflected on how she and Judith Audu made their mark. She also took the time to congratulate her colleagues on their achievements.

Wumi’s entry into the world of cinema has certainly brought her awards and set new records. Despite being a newcomer to movie production, she earned N57.7 million during the opening weekend of her debut film. This remarkable achievement made it the highest-grossing Nollywood opening weekend for a non-holiday period and the biggest opening for a Nollywood film by an independent distributor.
Her record-breaking success earned her an award at the box office, with the Yoruba actress being named the Box Office Champion of 2024 by the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB).
In September, Toriola celebrated as one of her YouTube movies reached 4 million views in just a month. She called this a huge accomplishment and praised herself, her cast, crew, and fans for their support.
Earlier in July, Wumi celebrated reaching 100k subscribers on YouTube, marking another significant milestone. She called it a monumental day and shared her happiness, noting how it reflected the strong bond she and her team had built with their subscribers and viewers.
To celebrate these achievements, Wumi expressed heartfelt gratitude to Nigerians. Reflecting on her cinema journey, she shared how overwhelmed she was by the love and support, recognizing that what began as an uncertain idea had grown into something far beyond her expectations.
