LAWMAKERS REPLY OBASA, SAYS MERANDA REMAINS LAGOS ASSEMBLY SPEAKER
The declaration from former Speaker of the House Mudashiru Obasa, who is adamant about continuing to serve as speaker, has prompted a response from the Lagos State House of Assembly.
It is crucial to make clear that more than two-thirds of the state assembly members support the new Speaker, Mojisola Meranda, according to a statement signed by Ogundipe Olukayode on behalf of the Assembly.
The legislators stated that the decision to impeach Obasa as speaker on January 13th could not be changed in any way.
According to Olukayode, the assembly members owe the public good governance and cordial relations with other branches of government because they are elected representatives of the Lagos populace.
He said, “The position of the house remains the same and nothing has changed. The position being canvassed by former Speaker, Rt Hon Obasa is uncalled for and unparliamentary.”
He appealed to the former speaker to toe the line of peace and harmony as being followed by others.
