LAGOS STATE GOVT TO PUBLISH NAMES OF LAND USE CHARGE DEFAULTERS
To promote transparency, ensure compliance, and increase funding for infrastructure, the Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Finance, will begin publishing the names of individuals and organizations that have failed to pay the Land Use Charge (LUC).
Mr. Tajudeen Mahmud, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, explained that this step is in accordance with the Land Use Charge Law of 2020 and follows the government’s ongoing efforts to deliver annual LUC bills to property owners.
He acknowledged that while many property owners have paid their charges on time, a considerable number have still not made payments despite receiving multiple reminders.
Mahmud added that the publication of defaulters’ names, scheduled to begin in April 2025, will be followed by further enforcement actions, including the receivership process, as outlined by the law.
“The Land Use Charge is a crucial source of funding for public infrastructure and service delivery. Full compliance ensures that the government can continue to meet the growing needs of the state,” Mahmud stated.

He, therefore, urged property owners to check their payment status and clear any outstanding dues to avoid being included in the public list.
In the meantime, residents have been encouraged to reach out to the Land Use Charge Contact Centre at the Ministry of Finance, Block 12, Secretariat, Alausa-Ikeja, for any inquiries.
