TRAGEDY AS TRUCK CRUSHES WOMAN TO DEATH ON LAGOS-ABEOKUTA EXPRESSWAY
The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) has confirmed that a tipper truck, allegedly driving against traffic, fatally struck a woman on Wednesday at Dalemo along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
According to Mr. Adekunle Ajibade, the South-West Area Commander of TRACE, the incident occurred around 9:00 a.m. while the woman was attempting to cross the expressway inbound Sango.
Ajibade explained that the tipper, traveling in the wrong direction, hit the pedestrian, resulting in her immediate death.
He cautioned motorists against driving against traffic, emphasizing that such reckless behavior often leads to avoidable fatalities. He also urged pedestrians to remain alert and exercise caution when crossing busy roads.
Ajibade added that the vehicle involved in the incident has been removed from the road to restore the free flow of traffic.
“The corpse of the victim has been taken to the mortuary, Ifo General Hospital, Ogun,” he said.
