The Lagos State Government has announced the temporary closure of ACME Road in Ikeja to all vehicles on Saturday, May 10, 2025, to enable the smooth conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Primaries at the party’s State Secretariat.

In a statement posted on the government’s official X account on Wednesday, the closure was described as part of comprehensive traffic and security arrangements to maintain order during the political event.

Access to ACME Road will be restricted from major connecting routes such as Adeniyi Jones, Lateef Jakande Road, and ACME Crescent. Motorists are advised to use alternative roads and follow directions from traffic officials stationed in the area.

“Ahead of the APC Primaries scheduled to hold at the APC State Secretariat at ACME Road, Ikeja on Saturday, 10th May, 2025, the Lagos State Government has issued a Traffic Advisory to aid free movement during the process.

“Motorists will not be able to access ACME Road from Adeniyi Jones, Lateef Jakande, and ACME Crescent ends. The entire stretch of ACME Road will be closed off to vehicular movement during the primaries,” the statement read in part.

To minimize inconvenience to road users, the Lagos State Government has advised motorists to use alternative routes during the temporary closure of ACME Road for the APC Primaries:

Drivers coming from Adeniyi Jones are advised to take Aromire Street and continue through Allen Junction.

From Allen Avenue, motorists should use Aromire Street, connect with Ladipo Oluwole, and proceed via Guinness to their destination.

For those coming from Akilo Road, it is recommended to divert through Wemco Road, then either continue to Lateef Jakande or head toward Omole.

Commuters are urged to plan their trips in advance and avoid the ACME Road area unless absolutely necessary. These diversions are designed to help reduce congestion and keep traffic flowing smoothly near the event venue.

Additionally, officers from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be stationed along the suggested routes to assist motorists and ensure safety during the event.

The state government emphasized that these actions are part of broader efforts to facilitate the orderly conduct of the APC Primaries while minimizing disruption to daily traffic.

Motorists are advised to follow the guidance, remain patient, and cooperate with authorities to ensure effective traffic management.
