SALAH WINS THIRD FOOTBALL WRITERS’ PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD
Mohamed Salah led Liverpool to a record-tying 20th English championship on Friday, earning him the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year award for the third time.
In the Premier League this season, Salah scored 28 goals and provided 18 assists for Liverpool, earning him the award.
Arne Slot’s team won their first Premier League title since 2020, and the Egypt forward broke the record for the most goal involvements in a 38-game season.
With over 90% of the football writers’ votes, Salah won by the largest margin this century.
The competition saw Declan Rice, a midfielder for Arsenal, finish fourth, Alexander Isak, a striker for Newcastle, and Virgil van Dijk, a centre-back for Liverpool, finish second.
Salah is now tied with former Arsenal attacker Thierry Henry as the only player to win the accolade three times. He previously received it in 2017–18 and 2021–22.

The 32-year-old recently signed a new two-year contract to remain at Anfield until 2027, putting an end to rumours over his future.
As they aim to surpass Manchester United as England’s most successful top-flight team, Salah’s choice to commit to Liverpool will make them the favourites to win a record 21st title the following season.
After finishing ahead of Khadija Shaw, the winner of the women’s award the previous year, Alessia Russo became the second player from Arsenal to win the prize.
