The Senate on Thursday announced the removal of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and Non-Governmental Organisations.

She was replaced by Senator Aniekan Bassey, who represents Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District. The announcement was made during plenary without any official explanation for the leadership change.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, had been appointed to the position on February 4, 2025, after her earlier removal as Chair of the Senate Committee on Local Content.

This latest development marks a further reshuffle within the upper chamber’s committee leadership structure. Senator Bassey is expected to assume duties immediately.
