YOLA FLOOD TRAGEDY: NIGERIAN GOVERNORS EXPRESS CONDOLENCES

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, has expressed sadness over reports of heavy flooding in Yola North and Yola South Local Government Areas of Adamawa State.

The flood disaster claimed several lives, destroyed properties and displaced residents, according to a personal statement on Monday, by the Chairman of the forum, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara state.

“The forum identifies with the people and government of Adamawa State under the leadership of His Excellency Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, as the state mobilises resources to mitigate the effect of this incident,” the statement stated.

The forum also praised the Nigerian Police and Army for their prompt deployment of marine units, following the state government’s request, to assist residents affected by the tragic incident.

“The forum expresses strong solidarity with His Excellency Governor Fintiri and the people of Adamawa during this challenging time, and pledges to provide support to complement the aid the state needs and rightfully deserves in addressing this humanitarian crisis,” the statement read.
