LAGOS POLICE ARREST NOTORIOUS ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT, RECOVER AK-49 RIFLE, AMMUNITION

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a notorious armed robbery suspect, Omotayo Iwajomo, at his hideout in Ikorodu.
The arrest took place on July 15, 2025, at about 1:00 a.m., following credible intelligence received by the Special Tactical Operatives.
During the operation, the police recovered one AK-49 rifle (Breech No. N704983), three magazines, seventeen rounds of 47.62mm live ammunition, and three rounds of 9.19mm live ammunition.
According to the command in a statement, “the suspect confessed to being the leader of a gang responsible for several violent crimes in Lagos.
“He is currently in custody and assisting in the apprehension of other gang members”, it added.
