The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 50-year-old widow and fashion designer, Mrs. Ifeoma Henrietta Ezewuike, for attempting to traffic 1.3 kilograms of cocaine concealed with a fake pregnancy disguise.

Ezewuike, who runs Golden Star Creation, a fashion business in the Okota area of Lagos, was apprehended on Friday, August 22, 2025, at a bus terminal in Jibowu, Yaba, while trying to transport the drug consignment to customers in Abuja.

According to the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, a follow-up operation at her residence on Ago Palace Way, Okota, led to the recovery of 200 grams of a cocaine-cutting agent.

The suspect, a mother of one, confessed during interrogation that she inherited the drug trade from her late husband, who died two years ago, despite being in the fashion business for over two decades.

In related operations, NDLEA operatives intercepted 90 parcels of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis weighing 48.6kg, hidden inside three cartons of imported kitchen sinks from the United States. The seizure was made on Tuesday, August 19, at a courier company in Lagos.

In Adamawa State, operatives stormed the home of a notorious dealer, Idris Garba, in Yola South. Although Garba escaped, his associate, 55-year-old Boniface Nnaji, was arrested. Recovered items included a Toyota Thundra Jeep and a Toyota Yaris car loaded with 354,480 pills of tramadol.

Similar crackdowns were recorded in Kano, where suspects Buhari Ibrahim (25) and Mansur Musa (24) were arrested with 5,850 pregabaline capsules. In separate raids, operatives recovered over 452,000 opioid pills from fleeing suspect Rabilu Mukhtar and arrested another suspect, Buhari Idris (35), with 140 litres of codeine syrup.

Further seizures included nearly 7,000 tramadol capsules from 29-year-old Adamu Yusuf along the Zaria-Kano road, as well as arrests of two dispatch riders distributing drugs in Abuja.

The NDLEA also reported large-scale cannabis farm destructions and warehouse raids across Taraba, Edo, Delta, Ondo, and Ekiti states, reinforcing its nationwide war against illicit drugs.
