KEBBI POLICE ARREST SUSPECTED CATTLE RUSTLER, RECOVER TWO COWS, TOYOTA VEHICLE

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a suspected cattle rustler and recovered two cows along with a Toyota vehicle used in the crime in Suru Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s spokesperson, Nafiu Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the arrest followed actionable intelligence that led a police patrol team to intercept the suspect, identified as Basiru Abdullahi, on August 27, 2025, at about 11:00 p.m. in Suru District.
According to Abubakar, Abdullahi was found in possession of two cows reasonably suspected to have been stolen. During interrogation, he confessed to conspiring with four others Garba Chairman Datti, Ja’e Ango, and two accomplices currently at large to rustle three cows belonging to one Sarkin Fulani Usman of Suru.
The stolen cattle were later sold for ₦500,000 to two buyers, identified as Safiyanu Aliyu of Jega town and Naziru Danmanu, who is currently on the run.
Police also recovered a green Toyota vehicle with registration number Naija-Minna 708XB, which was allegedly used in the operation.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Birnin Kebbi for further investigation and to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Commending the Divisional Police Officer in Suru and his team, Commissioner of Police Bello Sani praised their professionalism and swift response, assuring the public of the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks across the state.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies to aid prompt responses to criminal activities.
