INEC RECOGNISES DAVID MARK-LED LEADERSHIP OF AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS
By Aishat Momoh. O.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday formally recognised the new leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) headed by former Senate President, David Mark.
The recognition follows months of internal restructuring within the party, which produced new national officers to reposition the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Other principal officers acknowledged by INEC include former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, as National Secretary; Dr. Ibrahim Mani as National Treasurer; Akibu Dalhatu as National Financial Secretary; and Professor Oserheimen Osunbor as National Legal Adviser.
With the endorsement, the David Mark-led team is expected to embark on nationwide reconciliation and mobilisation to strengthen the party’s structures across the country.
The transition began on July 2 when former National Chairman, Ralph Nwosu, announced the appointment of Mark and Aregbesola as interim leaders after the previous executives voluntarily stepped down. However, the process was delayed due to incomplete documentation, which had left INEC’s records listing Nwosu and Said Abdullahi as Chairman and Secretary, respectively, alongside other former officers.
Under INEC regulations, parties are required to submit formal documentation including resolutions, verified signatures, and evidence of due process before leadership changes can be officially recognised.
